Living Room redone....

A few months back, we had some water damage.  I woke up to find a lake in my family room.  Our floor was ruined!  When one thing needs to be replaced....you know what that means.... Let's completely change the room!!!!  Above is our green wall, below is the new wall color, PUMPKIN!

We changed our bar as well.  Painted it beige and put granite on top.

New shelving unit from our friends the Uttenreuthers!  They have great taste!!!!
Oh and notice the floor.  It's the same color as our original floor but it's new!  We love our new room and hope to spend some quality time in it!

Pa's progress

My dad has completed his second treatment of chemo.  He is doing fantastic.  During the first phase, he was doing so well that the doctor said that he could take a trip to Reno.  He was thrilled.  He attended his teams softball games and couched for them.  He isn't able to play yet...but is looking forward to that in the future.  After ever treatment, he receives injections in his belly to bring up his white counts.  The only draw back is he gets the hiccups.  They last 24/7, but with medication, he is able to tolerate them.  He is looking forward to his last treatment which should be at the end of July.  Once treatment is complete, Mom and Dad will head to Denver for a much needed vacation.  We love you DAD!!!!!!

We are looking forward to spending father's day up in Rescue with my sister Amy and family.  Looking forward to celebrating all the great dad's in our family!!!!!

Last Day of 6th grade

Gina has done it!  She has promoted to 7th grade.  I am so happy and sad that this week is almost over.  It has been a busy one!  Monday was the Glenmoor School 6th grade swim party.  What a great way to spend a hot day and celebrate the ending of Elementary School.  Gina had a blast!  Her relay team, Clarissa, Caitlyn and Kiki won first place....and yes against the boys!  They did awesome!  Gina won a prize for the noodle race, she was fast!  What a fun day!

Gina's twin...Cristal
 The relay..........

Then came promotion day!  Getting up early to curl Gina's hair and getting on her dress and of course her shoes....CONVERSE!  That's Gina's style.....not too girly.

The ceremony was great!  Gina received the Principal award for being on honor roll 4th, 5th and 6th grade.  We are so proud of her!  It was a great day with friends and family.

Graduation wouldn't be complete without SISSY there!!!!

Gina was excited that Aslaug, Casey, Maddie and Traden attended as well.  Thank you!!!!!

The day ended with a swim party at our house.  Complete with lots of food, balloons, beach balls and of course, FISH in the pool!!!!  The kid that caught the big black fish received a gift certificate to Sonic.  Clarissa won that.....but then again she is a fish!  She loves the water.  The kids had a great time and swam for about 5 hours. Can boys pass up the chance for a buck? Not Brett and Garrett.  Tony offered a buck to place a live fish in their mouth.  They took the bait!
The day wouldn't be complete without a visit from Aslaug, Bob and Tenley.  Spoiling and showering Gina with gifts!  Love the Uttenreuthers!
The party came to an end around 8:30pm with a sunburn and sore feet from the bottom of the pool.

The week is half way over and we are exhausted!  We are so proud of our beautiful, young graduate.  Can't wait to see what 7th grade brings!

Memorial Day and The Girls

Another awesome weekend with great friends.  We had wonderful but odd weather at Casper Beach in Mendocino County.  The first day it was cold, second and third days were warm and on the fourth day, we had rain!!!  It was crazy.  We had fun at the beach playing baseball, flying kites and just relaxing.  The kids had a blast making sand castles.  We took a hike to a light house and visited the tide pools.  It was amazing!!!!  We even visited Glass Beach again.  We did this on a previous trip and it was worth a second trip.

Summer has arrived!!!  We are looking forward to some great camping adventures ahead.

Alicia has started her new job at The Melt.  It's a new restruant that serves awesome soups and grilled  cheese sandwiches.  She is loving it!  She is getting used to working and not getting to sleep in as much!!!  It's good for her!!!!

Gina's swim season is in full swing!!!  She had her first meet this past Saturday,  June 2nd against the Barracuda's.  She has lots of friends on the other team (including our friends, The Jeffery's) and really enjoyed having them at our pool to compete against.  It was a very friendly meet.  We enjoyed Aslaug, Tenley and Bob coming by to cheer her on!!!!  Thanks Aslaug for this awesome picture of Gina!!!!

Gina will be promoting to 6th grade next week.  We are gearing up for Summer and can't wait!!!!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful.  We had brunch at the Elks Club.  They always do such a wonderful job and my parents just love it!  We enjoyed a Ramos Fizz first then ate eggs, waffles, potatoes and we can't forget the champange!  It was delicious!  I am so lucky to be blessed with such a wonderful mom!  I love her so much.  I am also so blessed to have two beautiful girls who spoiled me rotten!

Alicia's Home!!!!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

I can still remember when she first got into the University Reno Nevada.........

Alicia had completed filing out applications to a few colleges that she wanted to attend.  Her first acceptance letter was from the University Nevada Reno.  She was so excited.  We ended up touring the campus the very next weekend and she found it to be the place where she would spend the next four years.  The summer of 2011 was a very busy one for us.  First, she received her dorm assignment, Juniper Hall.  It wasn't the one that she wanted but it was co-ed so that was good enough for her!  We shopped for all her necessities for her room and she found out that her roomate was a girl names Ashley from Las Vegas.  August 25th, move in day, came soon enough.  We headed up to Reno, big red truck filed with her belongings and her best friend, Cheryl , of course!  The first day was filled with getting her organized in her room.  We met her roommate Ashley and she was very nice.  Alicia and Cheryl stayed with us at the Silver Legacy the first night, the second night they stayed in Alicia's dorm room and had some fun.  By the third day, it was time to leave.  This was very tough on all of us.  As we drove away, tears streaming down our faces, including Tony's, we knew that the ride back to Fremont was going to be a long one.  Alicia is now a college student, ready to grow up and be on her own.  We are so proud of her!

One year later.....
We pick up Alicia on Saturday, May 12th.  Alicia has completed her first year of college.  We moved her back home for the Summer.  We are so glad that she is home and so proud of her for accomplishing completing her first year.  We are going to enjoy spending time with her for the next couple of months until she heads back to Reno for her second year.

Project....finally complete

I have to admit, I am addicted to decorating blogs.  I have seen many pieces of furniture transformed into beautiful creations!!!  I decided since I couldn't sell this piece of furniture on Craig's list, that I would try and paint it.  This is what it looked like before:

First I had to decide if I wanted to keep the hutch part of this piece.  It was very easy to remove, so I had Tony help me take it off. I really liked it and it made the room look so much bigger.

I decided that I wanted to paint it black so that it would match with our blue accent wall.  Gina and I put on our paint clothes and got to work.  After several coats and several days for it to dry, this is what we ended up with.

I've always wanted the pull tab type knobs and now I have them.  I am so happy with the results and can't wait for the next project.  It was a lot of fun and wasn't too overwhelming.  The part that took the longest was picking out the knobs.  I can never make a decision!

Until next time........
