Relay for Life 2013

This years Relay for Life was really close to my heart.  March of 2012, my dad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer.  After surgery and several rounds of chemo, I am happy to say he is cancer free. Several months later my Auntie Joan was diagnosed with Uterine cancer.   My sisters and I decided that we wanted to walk this year in Relay for Life to honor my dad and our Aunt.  We decided to make it a softball theme.  We raised around $1000, which we were very excited about.  It was a great event with great friends and family. We couldn't have done it without the help of our dear friends, Tenely, Aslaug and Bob.  They too were honoring several of their family members that have battled this terrible disease.  Tenley, Aslaug, Karen and I arrived early to set up, then the rest of the gang showed up.  Aunt Jennifer, Alyssa,  Janelle, Charles, Sarah, Peggy, Peggy's granddaughter, Wanda, Thomas, Uncle Ray, Tony, Bob, Robin, Sammy, MC, Dad and Mom.  It was quite a crew.  We can't wait to do it next year and maybe Dad will spend the night!!!!!

Girls Weekend

Girl's weekend happens every year either in April or May.  This year it happened on the weekend of April 26th near my birthday!!!  I didn't plan it that way!  We drove up to Amy's house this year.  Mom, Karen, Robin and I left Friday morning and headed to Rescue.  The only thing missing this year was our sweet Auntie Mary!  We won't let that happen again, it wasn't the same without her!  We shopped at the Folsom outlets, had lunch at Chili's and the  headed to Amy's house.  We visited with the boys and Mark and then got down to business....dinner and wine.  Friday night we made egg rolls with rice.  They were really good.  We played some cards and then hit the bed because we had a busy day ahead of us!  Saturday morning we enjoyed dad's blueberry muffins and then headed off to Sutter Creek.  What a great town!  We shopped at a few cute stores then headed to Avio, a cute mom and pop winery.  The lady explained and poured us plenty of tasting.  We chose some bottles to buy and Mom joined their wine club!!!  Way to go Mom!!!!!  We then headed to another cute town, Amador City.  We found more things to buy and the hit another winery, Dry Creek.  Dry Creek comes along with 5 dogs and one of the wines is named after one of them....Bubblegum. We purchased plenty of wine including one of the specials, Bubblegum!!!  We then headed back to Amy's where we had dinner, played dice and cards.  It was such a wonderful weekend!!!!  We are already planning next year.
