Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful.  We had brunch at the Elks Club.  They always do such a wonderful job and my parents just love it!  We enjoyed a Ramos Fizz first then ate eggs, waffles, potatoes and we can't forget the champange!  It was delicious!  I am so lucky to be blessed with such a wonderful mom!  I love her so much.  I am also so blessed to have two beautiful girls who spoiled me rotten!

Alicia's Home!!!!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

I can still remember when she first got into the University Reno Nevada.........

Alicia had completed filing out applications to a few colleges that she wanted to attend.  Her first acceptance letter was from the University Nevada Reno.  She was so excited.  We ended up touring the campus the very next weekend and she found it to be the place where she would spend the next four years.  The summer of 2011 was a very busy one for us.  First, she received her dorm assignment, Juniper Hall.  It wasn't the one that she wanted but it was co-ed so that was good enough for her!  We shopped for all her necessities for her room and she found out that her roomate was a girl names Ashley from Las Vegas.  August 25th, move in day, came soon enough.  We headed up to Reno, big red truck filed with her belongings and her best friend, Cheryl , of course!  The first day was filled with getting her organized in her room.  We met her roommate Ashley and she was very nice.  Alicia and Cheryl stayed with us at the Silver Legacy the first night, the second night they stayed in Alicia's dorm room and had some fun.  By the third day, it was time to leave.  This was very tough on all of us.  As we drove away, tears streaming down our faces, including Tony's, we knew that the ride back to Fremont was going to be a long one.  Alicia is now a college student, ready to grow up and be on her own.  We are so proud of her!

One year later.....
We pick up Alicia on Saturday, May 12th.  Alicia has completed her first year of college.  We moved her back home for the Summer.  We are so glad that she is home and so proud of her for accomplishing completing her first year.  We are going to enjoy spending time with her for the next couple of months until she heads back to Reno for her second year.

Project....finally complete

I have to admit, I am addicted to decorating blogs.  I have seen many pieces of furniture transformed into beautiful creations!!!  I decided since I couldn't sell this piece of furniture on Craig's list, that I would try and paint it.  This is what it looked like before:

First I had to decide if I wanted to keep the hutch part of this piece.  It was very easy to remove, so I had Tony help me take it off. I really liked it and it made the room look so much bigger.

I decided that I wanted to paint it black so that it would match with our blue accent wall.  Gina and I put on our paint clothes and got to work.  After several coats and several days for it to dry, this is what we ended up with.

I've always wanted the pull tab type knobs and now I have them.  I am so happy with the results and can't wait for the next project.  It was a lot of fun and wasn't too overwhelming.  The part that took the longest was picking out the knobs.  I can never make a decision!

Until next time........

Stonyford-Motorcycling is not just for men!

Yes, Tony convinced me that Stonyford was the place to go.  We decided to leave on Friday night at around 6pm.  Tony said that it's better to endure the cliff like road at night, that way you can see the headlights of other trailors coming your way.  We had done this trip before and I knew there was a reason why I didn't like to go.  It was quite a ride but we made it all in one piece!  I can't say it was a happy, relaxing ride but we did arrive!  We were greeted by friends and family, which was awesome, they helped Tony maneuver the RV into it's spot.  We were pretty tired so it was bedtime right away. Below is camp.....

The next morning we got up bright and early and the guys took the girls and kids for a ride.  We geared up and headed towards the hills.  It was great.  What a good experience thanks to our wonderful husbands.  We climbed M5 (a semi easy hill).  It took myself and Tenley a little convincing but we did it!!! The weather was amazing but very hot.  We took a break at a near by creek to cool off.

The next day we did another ride in a different part of the park.  This is what we ran into.....isn't it beautiful!!!

It was a great few days with great friends and family.   We had so much fun that even though the ride in was scary, I would definitely return to Stoney Ford!!!

Mickey and Minnie Mouse baby shower

I had to share these cute favors and banner that I made for my friends baby shower.  She is due in May and we had a shower for her at work on Thursday.  I love making banners and have made several for other events.  The favors were a lot of fun with the help of my sister Amy.  She created the labels!  Aren't they cute......

My Dad.....is doing great!

Back in February, I received a call from my dad.  He told me that he needed a biopsy of his lung.  He had a follow up xray from his pneumonia and the doctors saw something suspicious.  We were all nervous and worried about our wonderful daddy!!!!  He had the biopsy and it was confirmed that he had lung cancer.  We then had an appointment with a surgeon to discuss his options.  He chose to have surgery to remove the tumor.  In April, he had his surgery and was in the hospital for about 5 days.  He is home now resting and feeling pretty good.  He really wants to recover so that he can go and play softball.  Next week we will meet with the Oncologist to discuss if anything else needs to be done.  We do know that his lymph nodes are fine and that it didn't spread to anywhere else in his body.  Great news!  He continues to have a great outlook on life and we are so happy that he is our sweet DAD!

Our Crazy Life.....this week

Gina just completed her play with the Glenmoor Musical Theater.  This was her last year since she will be moving on to 7th grad in the fall and will be going to a different school.  The play was magical and I got to hear Gina sing!  Turns out she has a beautiful voice.  It was a lot of fun to see everyone perform and especially touching becasue it was the 6th graders last performance.  They took their final bow.  Even though we enjoy having Gina in the play, it's a lot of work!  We have had a few weeks of peace, but now onto swimming.

This week starts swimming for Gina.  She is so excited.  This is her second year on the Stingrays swim team and this year she has to swim two lengths of the pool instead of one.  She seems pretty confident so that is good.  On Monday, She came home from her first practice a little anxious knowing that she had a ton of homework to complete but at least there was not time for TV and at 9:00 she went right to sleep.

Tony has been busy getting an estimator to come out to look at our floor.  Yes, during the big storm we endured a leak in our roof and our floor is now damaged.  But luckily our insurance will cover it and we now get a new floor.  I am very excited about this!!!!

Alicia is plugging away at school with finals!  She has almost completed her first year of college.  We are so excited and proud of her.  We can't wait for her to come home for the Summer.  She will be busy with work and summer school.

That's all for now.....Until next time.....
